One of LO*OP Center’s key missions in the ’70s was to “demystify” the computer. We usually opened up the housing and talked about what computers were made of, how their components were manufactured and how they worked. Can you identify these objects? Our 4th, 5th and 6th graders could. The little boy who started our Computer PlayShop Course by asking how the little man got inside his television set ended up knowing exactly how the computer could answer certain questions because that child wrote the program. I believe this knowledge should be part of every person’s education in the 21st century.
